For many of our customers, they work with us because we create high-quality, accurately labeled training data for the Data for AI Lifecycle. But, we couldn’t do that without our team of Appen contributors. To create the highest quality data for our customers, we need human contributors paired with machine learning assisted labeling programs.
What Our Appen Contributors Are Working On
Our Appen contributors help to create training data sets by sorting, preparing, and labeling individual pieces of data. To make the work great for our contributors, they get to choose which jobs they want to work on and when they want to work. We offer flexible jobs and fair pay to contributors. We’re proud to have been named the #1 company with remote jobs by FlexJobs.
Our contributors work on innovative projects by:
- Categorizing topics and emotions in social media posts
- Moderating image and text content for appropriateness
- Transcribing audio content
- Annotating images
As valuable members of our Appen team, we want to highlight our contributors and their accomplishments in a series of posts featuring individual contributors, what they’re working on, and why they choose to work with Appen.
Meet: Nichole Davis
Let us introduce you to Appen contributor Nichole Davis. Nichole lives in Texas with her husband, bonus daughter, and dog. She enjoys crafting, gardening, and taking surveys. She started working for Appen after a friend recommended it to her.
What Appen Projects Nichole Davis is Working On
Appen contributors get to choose from a number of different projects to work on, so that they can find the project that fits their interests and skills.
Nichole is currently working on a search relevance project and is planning to apply to work on other Appen projects as well. She initially applied for the search relevance project because she enjoys spending time on social media and using search engines to find information. She likes working on the search relevance project because the work isn’t strenuous to complete.
For many Appen contributors, one of the best perks of the job is getting to work whenever it fits into your schedule. Nichole typically slots her work for Appen in the afternoon or early evening time.
Why Work for Appen?
For many Appen contributors, the key is flexibility. That’s no different for Nichole, who says, “I chose to be a contributor because I like the setup and the ease of being able to work when I want and have time.”
When asked about her favorite part of the job, she says that she likes finding new and exciting projects to apply for and work on. The best part: she gets paid to be on social media.
