Jayant Narayan is part of the World Economic Forum’s Artificial Intelligence & Machine learning team, where he manages the Global AI Action Alliance– a collaborative platform to accelerate benefits of AI while mitigating its risks by accelerating and amplifying projects, pilots and initiatives and disseminating tools and best-practices.
Jayant studied electrical engineering and started his career as a software engineer in the Indian IT industry working for clients in retail, pharma and automotive industry. He transitioned to public policy, working on projects related to education and environment, including new and emerging policy areas like India’s law on electronic waste recycling.
He has a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University and in his previous roles at the World Economic Forum, has been instrumental in launching the Forum’s Global Lighthouse network – a network of factories leading on technology and innovation. In his most recent role, he was also helped build the strategy and operations for the Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network.

Kenneth Benoit is a Professor of Computational Social Science in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Professor (Part-time) in the School of Politics and International Relations, Australian National University. He has previously held positions in the Department of Political Science at Trinity College Dublin and at the Central European University (Budapest).
He received his Ph.D. (1998) from Harvard University, Department of Government.
His current research focuses on computational, quantitative methods for processing large amounts of textual data, mainly political texts and social media. Current interest span from the analysis of big data, including social media, and methods of text mining. His substantive research in political science focuses on comparative party competition, the European Parliament, electoral systems, and the effects of campaign spending. His other methodological interests include general statistical methods for the social sciences, especially those relating to measurement. Recent data large-scale measurement projects in which he has been involved include estimating policy positions of political parties through crowd-sourced data, expert surveys, manifesto coding, and text analysis.
Dragos Tudorache is a Member of the European Parliament (Renew Europe) and the Executive President of the PLUS party in Romania. He is the Chair of the AIDA (Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age) special committee and sits in LIBE, AFET, SEDE, and the European Parliament’s delegation with the United States.
Dragos began his career in 1997 as judge at the Galati court. Between 2000 and 2005 he built and led the legal departments at the OSCE and UN missions in Kosovo. After working on justice and anticorruption at the Commission Representation in Romania, supporting the country’s EU ascension, he joined the Commission and, subsequently, qualified for leadership roles in EU institutions, managing a number of units and strategic projects such as the Schengen InformationSystem, Visa Information System, and the establishment of eu-LISA.
During the migration crisis, he was entrusted with leading the coordination and strategy Unit in DG-Home, until he joined the Government led by Dacian Ciolos. Between 2015 and 2017, in Romania, he was Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Minister of Communications and for the Digital Society, and Minister of Interior. His current interests in the European Parliament include Artificial Intelligence and new technologies, the Republic of Moldova, internal affairs, security, and transatlantic issues.
Richard has 20 years' experience deploying speech and language solutions in the navigation domain. As a developer, he focused on making driver-facing applications safe and usable with voice technology, and today is a data scientist within the Maps product unit.
Machine learning and analytics are having an increasing influence within the domain of map making, with automation considered key to our success in map making.
Dr. Tero Ojanperä is Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Silo AI, the largest private AI lab in the Nordics. He is also a Professor of Practice at Aalto University. Prior to Silo AI, Tero Co-founded Visionplus Venture Fund. At Nokia, he served as EVP of Internet Services, CTO, Chief Strategy Officer, and Head of Research, and was a member of the Group Executive Board. Tero is a well-known business influencer in the Nordics and elsewhere, and has served on several boards, including Veikkaus, Bittium, Technical University of Tampere and DNA. With a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Tero was listed as Fast Company’s seventh most creative person in business in 2009, and was nominated as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2006.
Wilson obtained his Masters and Bachelor’s degrees of Electric Engineering from Zhejiang University in China.
Mark joined Appen in July 2015 as CEO and is responsible for the company’s leadership, strategy and culture. Mark has over twenty-five years’ experience in technology and services. Prior to joining Appen, Mark was CEO of MST Global, a provider of technology solutions to the resources sector. Before that he was the CEO of Integrated Research Limited (ASX:IRI), an international software company listed on the Australian Stock exchange. Mark was also COO of the HR outsourcing company Talent2 (ASX:TWO) and CEO of Concept Systems (ASX:CSI) before its merger with Talent2.
Mark has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and Bachelor of Surveying with 1st Class Honors from the University of NSW.
