Appen Celebrates its Sixth Year of Representation in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards

After an exciting year of growth, Appen has been recognized for the sixth time in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards. This year marks the second year that we have received recognition in the leadership category. The Leadership category recognizes technology companies who have won a place on the Technology Fast 50 Australia list and whose strong track record of growth has generated cumulative operating revenues greater than $50 million.In addition to being recognized in the leadership category, Appen also received acknowledgement in the Tech Fast Female category. The Tech Fast Female category is a newly created category for companies that made the Technology Fast 50 list, which are founded or co-founded by a female(s) or have a female CEO.“Simply making the 2019 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards is an achievement, but to be named among the top contenders in the Leadership and Tech Fast Female categories is a significant statement about the company,” said Deloitte Private Partner and Technology Fast 50 Leader, Josh Tanchel.The 2019 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards rank Australia’s fastest growing public or private technology companies, based on their percentage revenue growth over the last three years (2017-19). To qualify, each company must have minimum cumulative revenues of $8m over the period.Supported by the ASX, DLA Piper Australia and National Australia Bank, the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia Awards are in their nineteenth year and provide international recognition for Australian innovation, with the winner gaining automatic entry into the Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 500 program.

Appen was also an APAC Technology Fast 500 winner, contributing to the program average growth rate of 717 percent – the highest average growth rate since 2008.“Success in the technology sector requires a special mix of innovation, creativity and leadership,” said Mike Horne, Asia Pacific Deloitte Private Leader. “With its 228% growth rate over three years, Appen has shown that they have what it takes to create and sustain success.”The Technology Fast 500™ list is compiled from the Deloitte Asia Pacific Technology Fast 50 programs, nominations submitted directly to the Technology Fast 500™, and public company database research. To qualify for the Technology Fast 500™, entrants must have had base-year operating revenues of at least US$ 50,000. Entrants must also be public or private companies headquartered in Asia Pacific and must be a “technology company,” defined as a company that develops or owns proprietary technology that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or manufactures a technology-related product; or devotes a high percentage of effort to the research and development of technology.
