Appen is excited to announce our official ranking as one of the largest language service providers (LSPs) in the global translation and interpreting industry. Issued May 2019 by independent market research firm Common Sense Advisory (CSA Research), “The Fastest-Growing LSPs: 2019” ranked Appen as a top-grossing LSP in the US$46.52 billion global market for outsourced language services and technology.Appen’s 118.67% one-year growth rate greatly surpasses the current growth rate of the market, making it the 8th largest worldwide LSP (up from 13th the year prior), the 5th fastest-growing global LSP, and the largest language service provider in APAC for the second year in a row.

We are thrilled to be recognized as a leading global LSP for the second year by the Common Sense Advisory. As companies worldwide are transforming their businesses with artificial intelligence, Appen delivers high-quality language data at the scale and speed required by the world’s leading firms. We look forward to continuing our work with companies that are using innovative technology to expand globally.” — Mark Brayan, CEO, Appen

This is the second year Appen has been recognized in the report. CSA Research publishes its annual market sizing report and rankings of the largest providers in the language services and technology industry. Since 2013, they have also produced lists of the fastest-growing companies in the sector, based on primary financial data. The report draws on data from CSA Research’s annual Global Market Study and “Who’s Who in Language Services and Technology: 2019 Rankings.”Appen CEO Mark Brayan said, “We are thrilled to be recognized as a leading global LSP for the second year by the Common Sense Advisory. As companies worldwide are transforming their businesses with artificial intelligence, Appen delivers high-quality language data at the scale and speed required by the world’s leading firms. We look forward to continuing our work with companies that are using innovative technology to expand globally.”As organizations both large and small address more languages, CSA Research predicts that the demand for language services will continue to grow. Based on a representative sample from CSA Research’s database of 18,000 LSPs and its proprietary algorithm, the firm found that the market for language services and supporting technologies will grow 6.62%.“People worldwide prefer consuming information in their own language. Meeting this expectation — and sometimes the legal requirements to do so — fuels an indispensable global industry that continues growing due to global digital transformation,” comments Dr. Donald A. DePalma, CSA Research’s Chief Research Officer. “The recipe for success doesn’t change much year after year. Fastest-growing companies credit their performance to being sales-driven organizations, developing their existing client base, and investing in the future,” he adds.—To learn more about how we help our clients improve their data for machine learning-based products that rely on natural language, contact us at hello@appen.com.
